Spring Arrives in NY
April 21, 2007

After months of (not-too-cold) winter, spring finally arrived in NY, and all the trees and plans are in bloom. I love visiting Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to see everything come back to life. It's one of the charms of living in a place that actually experiences seasons!

In Prospect Park, the cherry blossoms are blooming.

Gorgeous!

Out on the Long Meadow, a giant American flag is being opened.

A game of patriotic parachute!

Dogs of all sizes enjoyed the lovely weather.

Little League is in full swing.

At the Botanic Garden, Cherry Esplanade had not yet bloomed. They didn't actually reach full bloom until the week after the Cherry Blossom Festival this year.

Fortunately, the trees around the Japanese Hill and Pond had bloomed and were showing off their amazing pink flowers on this beautiful day!

Quack!

Turtles fought for basking space on the rock near the waterfall.

A traffic jam of koi fish on the shallow side of the pond.

Tulips were opening up along the Lily Pool Terrace.

Wildlife hiding amidst the bamboo.

Pretty narcissus

Lovely bluebells

Sunny yellow forsythia
