Happy St. Patrick's Day!
March 17, 2007

Last week, we were cruelly teased with a couple of warm days, only to be reminded that winter is not over yet. Friday was one big, messy snow and sleet storm, which continued through Saturday morning, and left us with 5" of snow on the ground. Luckily the sun came out for a few hours, so I walked to Prospect Park (one of my favorite things to do after a snow storm), and spent some time at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The farmers market is a little sad in the winter - very few vendors or shoppers.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I love the park after it snows, when everyone comes out to play.

Going up!

There were many sledders flying down the hill.

My first time at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in winter. It's beautiful and serene, with very few visitors.

Frozen surface

I'm not sure what happens to the koi fish or the turtles we see in the other seasons, but the ducks are still there.

There's a (barely visible) bird in this beautiful tree.

Very wintery on this side of the garden.

This is the Cherry Esplanade, site of the gorgeous pink cherry blossoms. The annual Sakura Matsuri celebration is set for April 7th - hopefully it will warm up soon so the trees can bloom!

Animal tracks - there must be critters nearby!

Bunny rabbit in the rose garden! Check out the cotton tail and short ears.
