Matthew's NYC Photoshoot
January 6, 2007

Matthew wanted a new portrait for his new site, so he asked our friend, professional photographer Katherine Slingluff, to do the honors. The idea was to capture Matthew sitting on his office chair in the midst of an urban setting, with the city in the background, much like a photo we took in SF a few years ago. I went along to document the shoot.

The model watches the traffic lights and waits for Katherine's signal.

Prepping the shot at the intersection of Mercer and Spring Streets.

Waiting for the foot traffic to pass in front. One pedestrian asked if we were shooting the model or the clothing.

This tourist joins in on the shutterbug action.

A busier intersection - Broadway and Spring.

Cobblestone street at Crosby and Spring. This turned out to be the favored location for all the character on this block.

Photographer and model.

Katherine's husband Andy was the assistant.

The sun started coming out, giving a little more light.

The talent rests while waiting for a cab.

Back in Brooklyn, we look for other locations
in DUMBO.

Unfortunately, a U-Haul truck got into the shot.

Near the park, the bridge and old tracks offer a very different background .

A string of parents pushing strollers goes by.

Moving for an oncoming car.

Japanese tourists take some photos a few yards
behind Katherine.

And we took a fun picture at the end of the shoot.
