A weekend in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
June 10-11, 2006
Day 1: Saturday

The weekend started out with yummy brunch at Swan Restaurant, on very popular Queen St. West. Swan is a cozy diner with a nostalgic vibe, with booths and lunch counter seating.

Puppet show in the park.

Crosswalk signals are cute in Canada!

St. Lawrence Market is an indoor market filled with food vendors, produce vendors, and all sorts of specialty food stalls.

There appeared to be a street fair outside of St. Lawrence Market.

It's Woofstock, a festival for dogs!

Smiley yellow lab puppy.

The proverbial butt-sniffing was a popular activity at this street fair.

Look Mom - it's your street!

How to cross the street in Toronto.

We saw a few of these "special" shops around the city.

The Renaissance Hotel is built into the SkyDome, home of the Toronto Blue Jays. You can even stay in rooms that overlook the field. We wandered into a bar in the hotel and happened to catch the last few innings of a game.

Today, it's the Toronto Blue Jays vs. the Detroit Tigers.

Go Blue Jays!

Game over, Detroit - 5, Toronto - 3

Dinner at Czehoski. Matthew shows off the $36 burger, which we shared, along with a few appetizers and a lovely bottle of wine from Ontario.

Burger innards: Two all (organic hand-cut organic sirloin tip) beef patties (mixed with sauteed shallots and garlic, cognac, green peppercorns, Italian black truffle, Dijon, rosemary, panko breadcrumbs and foie gras), red wine braised organic short-ribs, endive, heirloom tomatoes, double smoked bacon, secret (unpasteurized cheese) sauce, capers, pure gold, on a toasted sesame seed bun, served on a silver platter. Decadence!
Day 2: Sunday

This is the entrance Rogers Centre, also known as the SkyDome.

CN Tower is just east of the stadium.
