Revlon Run/Walk for Women
Times Square and Central Park
May 6, 2006

Today I joined more than 45,000 New Yorkers in a 5K run/walk against women's cancer. This was my first in NYC. The start line was in Times Square.

This is the view from about around 47th Street, looking down 7th Avenue. Think this looks chaotic? Wait til the race starts!

The race was kicked off with the sound of a horn and confetti. There were so many walkers in the front of the pack, it took much of the first mile for the crowd to fan out.

Somehow I still managed to finish the 5K in 35 minutes! Here's a shot of more runners crossing the finish line.

My bib number.

I have run or walked the Race For the Cure in SF 3 times in the past, always in recognition of my grandma (Pau Pau). In 2001, mom, Pau Pau and I walked our first one together. It was her 1 -year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor, and she's still healthy today.

Sponsors and supports of the event handing out all sorts of information and goodies.

An ice cream vendor tries to capitalize on the crowd, who, ironically, just finished running or walking over 3 miles.

After the event, I decided to enjoy the warm day and walk through Central Park. Just like in Prospect Park, everything is in bloom.

View of the Upper West Side skyline, across The Reservoir. Notice the menacing clouds overhead. Luckily the day remained warm and dry.

Playing jazz on a sax, under the bridge. Great accoustics in there!

This lady was carrying her cat through the park. Does that count as walking her cat?

A "queue" of horse-drawn carriages (just like the
queue of taxis at the airport!)

Lovely tulips in Grand Army Plaza, with horses and tourists in the background.

A long line outside FAO Schwarz.

I made my way all the way down to Rockefeller. The ice rink is gone until next winter. In its place will be outside dining. There's also an art exhibition being built on the street level.
