Christmas Cookies
December 23, 2006

Since we decided to have our own little Christmas here in Brooklyn, we wanted to do it up right. What better way to start than with Christmas cookies! Gingerbread was our flavor of choice. We even made frosting and got out all the decorations - it was like arts and crafts! Check out our tasty handiwork.

Blending the wet ingredients.

Whisking the dry ingredients.

Put it all together and you've got cookie dough!

Matthew is crazed with anticipation of cookies.

Dough balls ready for chillin'.

Drunkeness set in while waiting for the dough to be cold enough for rolling and cutting.

Have no fear, we still have our motor skills in tact.

This dough is hard to roll!

Our first batch, ready for the oven.

Tiers of cookies.

We added red hots and colored sugar to this batch, in hopes that the decorations would stick to the dough.

Here are the unfortunate results.

The red hots proved disastrous for this gingerbread man.

Rudolf's nose exploded!

The next morning, we made royal icing and brought out decorations.

We had white, blue and yellow icing.

Matthew got very creative with his cookies.

Mine weren't so bad either.

Pretty yellow tree.

Troll doll cookie (the head fell off, so Matthew glued
it back on with icing, and added a little imagination).
