| Roasting Chestnuts December 14, 2006 I came across fresh chestnuts in the store, and getting into the holiday spirit, I thought it would be fun to roast them (you know how the song goes). I found a recipe that said to cut a small X into the shells to allow the steam to escape, then put them in a 400 degree oven for 30 minutes. Easy, right? Well, yes, but this recipe forgot to mention they might explode after you take them out. Who knew chestnut bombs had such power - one of them shot chestnut across the kitchen! |
