| Central Park & Thomas Paine Park September 9, 2006 It was an absolutely gorgeous fall day, so we went to explore Central Park. In my many trips visiting NYC in the past, and since moving here, I haven't spent much time in the picturesque park. After this trip, we hope to spend more time here before winter kicks in. |

![]() The balls are about the size of grapefruits. |

![]() Seems that the goal is to roll the dark balls closer to the white ball than your opponent's. The tricky part is that the balls are not perfectly round, so they don't travel in a straight line. Great. |

![]() You can rent rowboats and row around the lake. The skyline beyond the park makes for a great view. |

![]() The main level is a nature observatory, where they house a couple of large turtles in a very large tank. This one is a red-eared slider, like my little turtle at home. Sadly, she was abandoned in the park and rescued, but not before losing the tip of her nose, part of her left front foot, and her sight. Luckily she's found a happy home here at the castle. |
![]() This was a smaller turtle, and a different breed. She's also a rescue turtle. |

![]() Seagulls, ducks and other birds resting on the low stone wall which runs from the Southeast Gatehouse to the Northwest Gatehouse. |
![]() After dinner in Chinatown, we walked off our food downtown, and stumbled into Thomas Paine Park, where we discovered a strange sculpture display. |
