Brooklyn Botanic Garden
August 6, 2006

One of my favorite places in Brooklyn is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. It's peaceful and pretty, a nice place to walk around and relax. On most recent visit, we got to walk through the rose garden, which opens every June.

Right when we walked in, we spotted this rabbit under a tree.

The rose garden was suffering from the recent NY heat, but there were still many beautiful roses to see.

Bunnies were everywhere! Guess it's true what they say about rabbits multiplying!

I love this rose!

This one had a great patter inside.

In the Japanese garden, there are lots of turtles, koi fish and ducks. Now that I'm a proud turtle mom, I realize the garden turtles are Turtle Baby's brethren!

This turtle is sunning with his legs sticking out.

Fish and turtles live in harmony in this pond.

This one was massive - about 14 inches in diameter! He also had slimey green moss growing on his back. I hope Turtle Baby doesn't get this big!

An artist finds inspiration in the Japanese garden.

Ducks and turtles and fish!

Iron gate.

Pretty in pink.

The lily pond was back, with all the cool lily pads and exotic flowers.

These things look like alien pods, so space-agey!

Here's a whole bush of them.

These pink flowers have the alien pods growing in the center. Cool!

Dragonfly lands on this pretty flower.

And in this pond... duck butt!

This turtle told me to say hi to his buddy Turtle Baby.

Red bird.

I think these are plums - they littered the lawn. It's fun to come to the garden every month or so to see what's new!
