Snow Dude

January 29, 2011

After Wednesday night’s snow storm, all I wanted to do was stay home and build a snowman in the yard, but grown-ups don’t get snow days. So I had to wait until today, after I’d run all my errands. Here he is!

A California girl is totally capable of building a decent snowman!

The Russian Tea Room

OK, so it’s a little touristy, and super spendy, but it’s a classic, and with the Restaurant Week deal, we just had to do it. A 3-course meal, vodka cocktails, my girls, and Boris the bear, who doubles as a fish tank. Yay girls night!

Snowpocalypse 2011, Part 2

According to Mayor Bloomberg, we’ve had record snow for January, and we’re not done yet. It’s snowing as I post these photos of the aftermath of Wednesday night’s thundersnow storm. I know people are sick of it, but I am still charmed by the beauty of it. Not so much by the mess on the streets, but in my backyard and in the park, it’s pretty cool.

My landlord shoveled the walkway from my building to the main building first thing in the morning. According to the news, we got about 19″ of snow from the latest storm.

The snow plows missed my street. Same thing for my office street, half of which was covered by a 4″ thick, solid ice skating rink.

Central Park is a winter wonderland under all this snow.
