Race for the Cure (SF) 2010

September 30, 2010

It was a coincidence that I was set to travel to the Bay Area during the same weekend as the SF Race for the Cure. It’s been a few years since Mom and I participated in this event together. It’s also been ten years since we walked with Pau Pau, and they’ve moved the route from Chrissy Field to The Embarcadero. We got a bit of a late start in the race, but we’re fast walkers, and we caught up to the rest of the group in no time, even passed quite a few folks! The weather was perfect, which made for some great mother-daughter time, topped off with brunch with Pau Pau in Emeryville.

I Heart Indian Summer

September 29, 2010

Fall is the best time to be in the Bay Area, particularly after a colder-than-normal summer. I picked one of the best weeks to go, just as Indian summer hit. First stop: San Jose for some quality Corin time!

“All gone!”

“Here, you can borrow my water table toys.”

“Maybe I’ll water the garden.”

“I’ll help you Daddy!”

“This is one giant zucchini, Yeh Yeh!”

“Here Daddy, take this thing, it’s heavy!”

Nothing beats a good read before bedtime. “Good Night, New York City” is a favorite (even better if it’s upside-down).

Race for the Cure (NY) 2010

September 13, 2010

This year I decided to raise money for breast cancer research. I was able to raise $805 for the cause! On Sept. 12, I met up with friends Lori and Lisa, and more than 20,000 people, for the 20th anniversary of the race. I first walked the Race for the Cure in SF with Mom and Pau Pau, after she kicked breast cancer at age 80. Today she’s 91 years old and going strong!

Thanks to my amazing, generous family and friends for sponsoring me and helping a cause that’s close to my heart!

US Open

Thanks to Nicki, I can check another experience off of my bucket list. I’m a horrible tennis player, but I love watching it. And after almost six years in NY, I still had not made my way out to Flushing Meadows to watch the US Open. Until now! Nicki’s friend works for one of many corporate sponsors of the annual event, so I tagged along as her +1 for a perfectly lovely day. It was Super Saturday, and we scored seats for the Men’s Semifinals. The sun was out, and the tennis stars were ready for battle. Amazing first US Open!

Nadal was the No. 1 seed, and he proved why in a mere 3 sets, making for a rather boring match. Still, it was cool to watch the best male tennis player in the world!
