4th of July brought a 3-day weekend, the perfect excuse for a couple of local adventures. First stop was the Bronx Zoo. It was a lot of fun to see and learn about the animals. Our favorites included the gorillas, giraffes, tapir, and lots and lots of monkeys. There are quite a few babies at the zoo, most of whom were quite entertaining!

In case you were wondering how they do it…

Rambunctious baby gorillas were so fun to watch!
Gorillas have big hands!

Lunchtime for the human species! I packed a healthy vegetarian picnic.

Escaped monkey posing as a baby human!
(I took so many photos from our day at the zoo, I’m breaking this post into two parts. Stay tuned for more animals!)

The making of baby giraffes looks quite dangerous. I would not attempt it myself.

@ wildwind - Yes Bret, we had a fantastic time at the zoo. Don’t you remember?
@ Nikki-Jong - It was my goal to take pics of all the “how animals do it” signage, but they were not consistent in sharing this info for every animal. Losers.
