One of the most amazing things about attending UCSD is the location. The campus is smack in the middle of La Jolla, a wealthy San Diego beach town, so the amazing beaches, downtown area and La Jolla Cove served as our college town. Last Sunday, Alma and I decided to take a trip down memory lane. It could not have been a more perfect day for exploring - the gorgeous, sunny weather made me think I should reconsider my choice to live in NY!

Beautiful La Jolla Cove, perfect for sun bathing, swimming and snorkeling.

I was never brave enough to explore this cave.

The tidepools are full of little ocean creatures.

Like tiny little crabs, about the size of a nickel!

Or a bigger crab, about the size of a silver dollar.

Apparently there are lots of critters in the area, as there were many different signs asking people not to feed them.

Pelicans enjoying the sun and looking for fish.

This little seal seemed to know everyone was photographing him. He posed on the rock, then turned around and posed at a different angle so people on the pier could get a good shot, then he’d turn again for more attention and adoration.

His little buddy wasn’t as good at getting up and balancing on the rock.

We’re a little embarrassed to say that we spent many evenings at Hard Rock back in the day. It was close to campus, and we could afford it, so it was a frequent night out for us in college. So this photo was a good way to end our little downtown La Jolla tour!
