Sunday was my 2nd day in Amsterdam. Both Matthew and I are sick (I’m getting over it, but he just caught whatever was going around his office), so the cold air has posed a challenge for exploring much. However, we did get out to try the famous Dutch pancakes. While waiting for a table at The Pancake Bakery, we befriended the guy in front of us (who turned out to be from SF!) and invited him to join us for brunch. Afterwards, we walked around a bit, and eventually headed over to the historic Theater Tuschinski to watch the movie Control. If you were a fan of the band Joy Division, you should check it out. We didn’t get to sit in the main theater, but I hear you can reserve box seating and order champagne! In the other theaters, you can only order beer and wine. Yep, beer and wine at the movies. The Dutch do it right.

Dutch pancakes are a lot like crepes, but with stuff built into the batter. Mine had bacon, mushrooms and cheese. Yummy!
