Pigs on Parade, Seattle

Pigs on Parade debuted in 2001, and came back in 2007 to celebrate Pike Place Market’s 100th Anniversary. There were 100 of these porcine works of art scattered around the city. They are part of a fundraiser to raise money for the market, and on October 12th, the pigs will be auctioned off. Here’s more about Pigs on Parade, and photos of some of my favorites.

Pike Place Market, Part 1

Seattle’s Pike Place Market is heavenly. It has fantastic produce markets, fresh fish markets, florists, restaurants, and a multitude of other vendors. I used to think that it was just a tourist trap, much like Pier 39 in SF, but given what they have to offer, I can’t imagine it caters only to out-of-towners. How many people can pack fresh, raw seafood in their suitcases? On a recent visit to Seattle for my grandmother’s birthday celebration, we spent plenty of time ogling at Pike Place. Just check out the amazing goodies from the sea!
